Hey everyone! Welcome to Antisliptech.com. We have more than 500 different kinds of aluminum stair nosing to meet our customer requirements.  Today let’s share how to choose the right aluminum stair nosing for maximum safety and durability.

Applications of glow in dark stair nosing

Aluminum stair nosings are essential components designed to enhance safety and durability in various settings by providing a non-slip surface at the edge of stair treads. There are several types of aluminum stair nosings available, each suited for different applications and environments.

Extruded Aluminum Stair Nosings

Extruded aluminum stair nosings are a popular choice for both interior and exterior applications in commercial and institutional buildings with moderate to high foot traffic. These nosings are made from 6063 T5 exterior grade heat-treated aluminum, filled with a proprietary blend of mineral abrasive grit and epoxy, creating a durable anti-slip surface.

The aluminum extrusions are typically filled with abrasive material running from side to side along the width of the tread or nosing, providing a skid-resistant surface.

This type of nosing is ideal for use in high-traffic areas such as commercial buildings, manufacturing facilities, and oil and gas refineries due to its durability and wear resistance.

Low Profile Aluminum Stair Nosings

Low-profile aluminum stair nosings are designed to be just 1/8″ thick at their highest point, making them suitable for installations where a minimal profile is desired.

They feature two high-traction surface materials for improved slip resistance and a heavy-duty aluminum base. The construction includes a diamond hard aluminum oxide abrasive combined with polymeric binders bonded to heat-treated 6063-T6 aluminum.

These nosings can be installed in public stairwells both indoors and outdoors, and they meet or exceed several safety specifications, including MIL-D-1795 IE, non-slip MIL-W-5044C, Type IV, ADA, ASTM, and OSHA.

Cast Aluminum Stair Nosings

Cast aluminum stair nosings are known for offering the most traction, making them suitable for use on slippery concrete steps in both new construction and existing stairways. These nosings have a non-corrosive, cross-hatch design and a sand-cast surface for ultimate slip-resistance, even in adverse weather conditions like rain and snow.

They are ideal for outdoor stairways in locations such as stadiums, parking garages, fire exits, schools, hospitals, and convention centers.

Cast aluminum nosings typically feature a natural sand cast finish with a silicon carbide abrasive surface, ensuring maximum traction.

Grit Anti Slip Aluminum Stair Nosings

Grit anti slip aluminum stair nosings are specifically designed to provide superior slip resistance in environments where safety is critical. These nosings feature a durable surface embedded with grit particles that are securely bonded to the aluminum base using high-performance adhesives.

This gritty surface significantly improves traction, making them highly effective in preventing slips and falls in high-risk areas such as wet or greasy staircases, industrial sites, and outdoor locations. Constructed from high-strength aluminum alloys, these nosings offer a balance of lightweight properties and exceptional durability, ensuring reliable performance even in the most challenging conditions.

A key advantage of grit anti-slip aluminum stair nosings is their high level of customizability. Both the aluminum alloy and the width and amount of grit can be customized to meet specific project requirements, providing tailored solutions for diverse safety needs and design aesthetics. Available in a wide range of profiles and sizes, these nosings are suitable for various applications, including commercial, industrial, and residential settings. They are designed to comply with rigorous safety standards, making them ideal for both new construction projects and retrofits where enhanced slip resistance is crucial.
